Not exactly, but we are in the top ten!
According to a study done by Car Insurance Comparison, which listed states by the worst drivers,Connecticut drivers ranked as the 7th best!
CIC compiled the rankings based on data from the National Highway Safety Administration, the National Motorists Association, and Mothers Against Drunk Driving. The scores were categorized by fatalities per 100 million vehicles travelled, failure to obey (traffic signals and seat belts), drunk driving, tickets, and careless driving.
It is no secret that we Nutmeggers all like to think of ourselves as God’s gift to driving. We have acquired serious driving skills from dodging deer and squirrels, maneuvering over snow and ice, and journeying through thunderstorms. Not to mention the personal connection that CT drivers tend to make with their cars. We have many amazing vehicles on our roads, GTOs, Mustangs, Audis, but even those of us who drive Civics and Camry’s bond with our cars. We may have some road rage and heavy feet, but when forced to deal with out-of-state drivers on I-95 and I-84, we know we are superior. Not surprisingly, CT drivers ranked higher than drivers from New York, New Jersey, and Massachusetts (no offense).
Keep up the good work, Connecticut. Stay safe!
