Marina Brakefield

Immigration Attorney

Marina Brakefield is a seasoned Immigration Attorney at the Law Offices of James A. Welcome. With over twenty years of experience, she has become a cornerstone of the firm’s immigration practice, helping clients across a spectrum of issues, from deportation defense to family reunification and asylum claims.

Marina’s legal career began in 1995 when she worked with battered immigrants at a domestic violence shelter. Her advocacy was instrumental in the creation of legislation that allows victims of domestic violence to independently secure legal status, a law that remains a vital resource for Marina and her colleagues in protecting survivors and their children.

A graduate of the University of Iowa Law School, Marina earned her Juris Doctor degree while actively participating in the Immigration Law Clinic, where she collaborated with professors and lawyers on complex immigration cases. Her dedication and impact in the field were recognized with an award for her work under the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA).

Licensed to practice in the State of Connecticut Superior Court, Marina is deeply committed to the principles of justice and compassion in immigration law. She navigates the complexities of each case with a thorough and informed approach, ensuring her clients are well-supported throughout their legal proceedings. Her experience and empathetic nature make her an invaluable advocate for those facing the challenges of immigration.
